Hi, I'm Yvette Freeman, a portrait photographer, based in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina.
I started Red Angle Photography in 2016, after nearly 20 years in communications (radio, TV, newspaper, and public relations) and 11 years in higher education publishing sales. That background taught me how to connect with people quickly, and how to help them feel at ease in front of a camera or a microphone.
Sipping chartreuse and green tea while looking at the most perfect white subway tile and hand painted signs. Driving through the mountains to Portland reminiscing about the best memories back home. Cozy sweaters, vintage demin, and Pabst while telling one of a kind love stories. The trials and tribulations of love, joy, and happiness. Lastly, champagne brunch and avocado toast while surrounded by the finest exposed brick, dreamcatchers, and maps to our souls. Dreamcatchers, macrame and 100 Days of Summer. Anthropologie trips and walks on the beach, love letters and secret admirers. Fall breeze, flannels, and hot cocoa. Whales and dinosaurs and handmade crafts. Salvage denim, antique leather bags, and the first time we watched Moonrise Kingdom.
"Yvette is undeniably one of the best photographers I’ve ever worked with. She really captures the essence of the person she is photographing and I’ve enjoyed working with her."
Kym B.
Over the years I've photographed everything from families and graduating seniors to beloved family pets. But photographing people is where I find the most joy. And that says a lot, because I'm actually an introvert! There's something about the interaction, about watching someone's face change when they see their images for the first time. So many of my clients tell me they never thought of themselves as photogenic, only to realize they simply hadn't been photographed by the right photographer yet. I believe everyone can be captured beautifully in the right hands, and I hope to be that photographer for you.
I've earned 18 image competition awards, and in July 2023 I received an Honorable Mention in the Prix de la Photographie Paris (PX3), a prestigious international juried competition based in Paris, France.
But none of that matters if I can't help you feel comfortable, confident, and relaxed enough to actually enjoy your session. That's my real goal: not just capturing great images, but creating an experience you love.
